A MONITORING NETWORK & WORK GROUP

You are invited to join us and be part of a network of partners involved in long-term monitoring programs.

About Us

With over 300 species of conservation concern and roughly half of the state’s population coexisting in coastal southern California, public-private partnerships are essential for effective conservation of the region’s biodiversity.

The California Wildlife Foundation established this website in coordination with the South Coast Region of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to facilitate communication of public-private partner activities pertaining to specific conservation projects within the South Coast Ecoregion.

The contents and membership for each Project is administered separately by the person listed as the Project’s Administrator. Contact them for project specific information. If you wish to establish a project on this site, please contact:

Mission Statement

The South Coast Survey Mission is to create, maintain, and enhance high quality, consistent data that are directly applicable to policy, planning, management, research, and recovery of multiple species and related natural resources and their habitats in California. South Coast Survey is a cooperative program involving a growing number of agency and organization partners. Such cooperative support has and will continue to guide the future development of South Coast Survey and ensure the longevity and continued usefulness of the South Coast Survey site. South Coast Survey addresses the needs of a variety of natural resource management agencies by serving as both data publisher and data clearinghouse, providing access to original data and links to sites with related species and habitat information.

Vision

South Coast Survey is committed to providing direct access to many different types of data relating to species and habitats. This data includes categories such as: Population monitoring, Distributions, Species barriers, Habitat monitoring, Habitat restoration and Invasive Species.
